BYAA VOLLEYBALL 
For the Fall 2010 - Tryouts have now been completed and player selections for the final tryouts have all been made. If interested in trying out for a volleyball team for Fall 2011, please watch the Berthoud newspaper, school announcements (from Turner Middle School) and information will also be posted on this website. Tryouts are completed in May of each year for teams to be formed & compete in the fall.
The goal of the BYAA is to teach solid volleyball fundamentals and to develop and improve the competitive level of the participants each and every year.
The BYAA girls volleyball program has successfully completed three seasons in the Gold Crown Foundation girls volleyball league, based out of Lakewood. Team rosters are filled from tryouts completed each May for 5th/6th (combined), 7th and 8th grade girls. Please note - 5th graders are welcome to tryout for 6th grade. We do not standardly allow players to request to "play up" a grade level, unless special circumstances arise - this will be at the discretion of the Volleyball Director. We strive to have a total of 4 or 5 teams each fall: 2 teams per grade-level (one each at the silver-level and gold-level) for 7th & 8th grades and 1 team for 6th grade - however; that can change due to numbers interested - for example, in the Fall 2010 - we will have four teams, two 5th/6th grade teams, one 7th and one 8th.
Teams are formed to play in the Fall Gold Crown Volleyball League with games primarily played at the Gold Crown field house in Lakewood, but can be held at other locations as well (including potential games in Berthoud). Games are played normally on Sundays starting mid-September and complete the end of October with a final tournament. Twice a week practices are scheduled for every team which does not conflict with after-school team practices - our practices are held 6pm & after. We do have the potential of hosting home games in Berthoud. In the Fall of 2009, we hosted at Turner Middle School on 4 dates, giving each of our 4 teams at least one opportunity to play at home. It was successful and we have a very strong possibility of hosting locally again in the upcoming years. Costs per player have standardly been in the $175 to $200 range; however, these costs may fluctuate dependent upon hosting fees for home games, possible increased registration fees, equipment fees, etc. For additional information on Gold Crown Foundation, please visit their website at: www.goldcrownfoundation.com.
Pre-liminary tryouts/Pre-registration is held in May of each year for the coming fall season. A partial (commitment) fee (usually due by June 1st) is required upon player's initial acceptance after pre-liminary tryouts/pre-registration has been completed. The final tryouts/team selections are held in August and those that attended the pre-liminary tryouts/pre-registration process and paid the intial commitment fee are guaranteed to be contacted for the final tryouts in August. There is 70% residency requirement to participate, meaning that 70% of the players on a team must reside within the boundaries of and/or attend the feeder middle-school (Turner Middle School-Berthoud).
Coaches May Be Needed!! We are always seeking qualified head coaches and assistant coaches as well. Please contact us if you are interested in coaching at either level. A coaching application, completed coaches code of conduct and approval process is required by the Volleyball Director and BYAA Board for all coaching postiions.
